What is Muslin fabric?
Muslin is an extremely fine and loosely-woven cotton fabric. Based on its size, weight, finish, color, etc., there are many different types of muslin cloth.
Why choose MUSLIN cloth over normal cotton for your baby?
A baby’s skin barrier is 30% thinner than an adult’s, which makes it harder for them to adapt easily to temperature changes That’s why your baby’s innocent skin deserves the best care and the gentlest of fabrics.
- Not all Cotton is Made Equally
- Conventional Cotton producers use up to a quarter of the world’s insecticides. In contrast, Organic Muslin Cloth is produced on the other hand, in natural ways to build soil fertility, all without the use of chemicals.
- Owing to its open weave, muslin is an extraordinarily light & breathable fabric in comparison to cotton fabric. This helps keep your baby snug & warm, but at the same time allows air to flow freely, preventing any chance of overheating.
- Muslin is also a flexible fabric and gently stretches to take the shape of your baby for maximum comfort.
What you can use them for…
a). A BURP CLOTH
You should use them for covering your shoulder while burping them and would always have one within arm’s reach for mopping up surprise sick. So if you’re due to have a baby I suggest stocking up.
b). A NURSING COVER
Muslin cloth can make a great little nursing cover. By taking a muslin cloth into either side of your bra strap, you can cover just enough of your flesh while wearing a top such as a vest top not to feel like you’ve stripped off entirely.
c). A SUMMER SLEEPSACK
Made of buttery-soft, 100% organic muslin cloth, your baby will feel like they are wrapped up in a cloud. The 360-degree zipper cover prevents any skin chafing that might happen while your tot is tossing and turning throughout the night. The muslin fabric with button zippers is light enough to allow for comforting airflow while keeping out the chill during the spring and autumn months.
d). A SWADDLE
Large muslin cloths can make an excellent lightweight swaddle for your newborn baby. Lots of newborns respond well to being swaddled as it makes them feel nice and secure. It is important of course to make sure that your baby does not overheat so check out the guidelines for safe sleeping.
e). A SUMMER PRAM SHADE
During the summer months, it is important to keep your baby nice and cool while out and about. Covering your baby’s pram with a normal blanket is a big no-no, as research has shown that this can cause your baby to overheat very quickly and put them at risk of SIDs. Lightweight and breathable thin muslin can be a good option to create shade without warming up the area inside your baby's pram to match.
f). AN INFANT CARSEAT COVER
Keep your baby cool and covered with muslin cloth like a car seat cover. The breathable soft muslin fabric is best for your baby as it creates a light and airy layer to keep the sun, germs, and strangers out while a baby is sleeping. This muslin cloth as a car seat cover is a must for parents on the go. Fits in almost all car seats and is machine washable plus safe for your baby’s day out.
g). A BATH TOWEL
A muslin square can not only you can use it has a handy cloth for a baby bath as a washcloth or even as a towel. Become, a huge fan of cheeky wipes cloth wipes as my main solution for wiping the baby’s body and dry them after a fresh bath.
h). AS A BIBS
When your babies have had colds, Muslins are kinder to their little noses than tissues which can make the skin around their nostrils sore with constant wiping.
And for anyone whose children have outgrown peekaboo or comforters, all those muslins cloths can be re-purposed into shoe shine cloths, amazing body and face exfoliators, homemade teabags, and potpourri (for the very crafty and creative), window drying cloths, car wash cloths…..the list is endless.
